There is provided a lead-free projectile (10, 30, 40, 42, 44) suitable for u se as a bullet to be fired from a pistol a rifle. The projectile has a metallic jacket (12, 46) enveloping a metallic core (6). The con is formed from a high purity tin and has deformation properties similar to first of lead based projectiles without the environmental hazards associated with lead.
