Apparatus for delivering sheets such as carbon blanks to a receiving station comprises perforated belts 13 passing under a suction box 11 perforated at its lower face, the sheets being released from the belt to fall on the table by cutting off the suction from the box. The sides of the box 11 have openings 15 connected to a source of suction, and within the box slides a box-shaped member 12 reciprocated vertically by cam means in time with the delivery of sheets to the belts 13 by belts 19. In the raised position of the member 12, suction is applied to the chamber 16 within the box 11 to hold sheets to the belts 13, but when the member 12 is lowered, it covers the openings 15 to cut off the suction and at the same time forces air out through the perforations in the bottom of the box 11 and in the belts 13 to cause a sheet to be released and moved down on to the receiving station. A single belt 13 may be employed or a number of belts each with its suction device 11, 12. Further, the box 11 may be reciprocated and the member 12 stationary in which event the belts are moved vertically to maintain the small gap between the belts and the bottom of the box 11. The belts 13 may move continuously or may be stationary at the time the sheets are released. |
