METHOD FOR PROVIDING CONTENTS TO SET-TOP BOX BY THIRD PARTY'S ACTION AND SYSTEM THEREOF

A method and a system for providing contents to a set-top-box at the request of a third party are provided to transmit contents selected by a user to the set-top-box through various routes without passing an interface of the set-top-box. A device ID number is received from a set-top-box through a network. The device ID number of the set-top-box is registered corresponding to user registration information only for the initial connection of the set-top-box through the network. A device ID number and a network address received whenever the set-top-box is connected with the network are registered in connection with the user registration information. A contents transmission request is received from a log-in user according to the user registration information(714). Selected contents are transmitted to a set-top-box corresponding to the user registration information at the contents transmission request(717).
