FIELD: electrical engineering; electrical machines such as low-speed windwheel and water-wheel generators. ^ SUBSTANCE: proposed two-stack synchronous generator incorporating stator stacks with slots to receive windings and multipole inductor disposed between stacks has its stator stacks offset relative to each other through half the tooth pitch and stator slots skewed by half the tooth pitch. With such mechanical design of two-stack generator displacement of its stator stacks through half the tooth pitch ensures stepless transfer of inductor from tooth of one stator stack to adjacent tooth of other stator stack and makes reduction of bevel of its slots by half the tooth pitch sufficient for stepless transfer of inductor from tooth of one stator stack to adjacent tooth of other stator stack thereby reducing breakaway torque. Total permeance of magnetic circuit in proposed generator of both butt-end and radial design alternates is equalized by displacement of its stator stacks at the same time reducing initial breakaway torque. ^ EFFECT: improved performance and power characteristics due to reduced loss and enhanced efficiency of proposed synchronous generator. ^ 1 cl, 5 dwg
