METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR MANAGING THE POWER ON TELEMATICS TERMINAL

A method and an apparatus for managing power in a telematics terminal are provided to prevent the telematics terminal from being completely terminated by performing power management by using power of a vehicle and self-power of the telematics terminal, thereby reducing time required for booting during restarting and preventing electric discharge of a vehicle battery. In an apparatus for managing power in a telematics terminal(200) having self-power, the apparatus comprises the followings: a power selecting unit(210) which uses power(230) of a vehicle if the power(230) of the vehicle having the terminal(200) is turned off, and uses the self-power if the power(230) of the vehicle is turned off; and a charging unit(220) for performing a charging process by supplying the power(230) of the vehicle to the self-power. The apparatus further comprises an intercepting unit for intercepting connection with the power(230) of the vehicle when the charging of the self-power is completed.
