METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR COMPENSATING IMAGE DATA IN A SCANNING DEVICE

A method and a device for compensating image data in a scanning device are provided to obtain an improved quality of image data by compensating the image data for a central part of a book in case that the book is scanned. A histogram maker(220) makes a brightness histogram for a scanned area. A compensation quantity calculator(230) calculates a compensation quantity for the area having a brightness value under a critical value in the made histogram. An image data compensator(240) compensates the image data scanned later by using the calculated compensation quantity.
