METHOD FOR SCANNING DEFECT OF DISK OF HARD DISK DRIVE, AND RECORDING MEDIA FOR COMPUTER PROGRAM THEREFOR

A method for detecting defects of an HDD(Hard Disk Drive) and a recording medium storing a computer program for the same are provided to effectively detect the defect by preventing non-defect from being detected as the defect, as the defect is excessively detected by applying a fixed reference defect value even if an amplitude difference is present in a write/read test signal of the HDD. A test reference defect value is set by a preset initial reference defect value(S10). Defect scanning is performed to a test cylinder of a disk included in the tested HDD based on the test reference defect value(S20). If the defect is not detected from a defect scanning result, the test cylinder is determined and the test reference defect value is determined as a verification reference defect value(S40). An individual reference defect value of each disk in the tested HDD is set according to a specific rule based on the verification reference defect value(S70). The defect scanning is performed to all tracks of the disks in the tested HDD based on the individual reference defect value(S80).
