PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus having a shake correcting function, capable of saving power consumed for polarization processing and performing ample polarization processing, in order to correct its shake. SOLUTION: The imaging apparatus has a timer means for counting time, from starting energizing of a correction driving means for driving a shake correction mechanism; and a timer comparison means for comparing the counted number by the timer means with a predetermined value, and has a mode control means for inhibiting the exposure process of the imaging apparatus, when the counted time by the timer means has not reached the predetermined value, when the depressing operation of a shutter button to a second stage is performed.
