PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rolling bearing for a transmission requiring a small amount of lubricating oil for securing the sufficient seizure resistance by eliminating sealing torque while maintaining sealability inside the bearing, shutting off intrusion of a foreign matter into a bearing space with lubricating oil outside the bearing repelled by oil repellent films containing oil repellent components less liable to wet with the lubricating oil, and applying only oil plating lubrication to the inside of the bearing to lower the torque of the whole bearing. SOLUTION: In the rolling bearing 10 for the transmission, oil plating is applied to at least one of an inner ring 11, an outer ring 14 and a rolling element 17, the oil repellent films 22, 26 are formed on a seal end part, an outer peripheral face 12 of the inner ring 11 and an inner peripheral face 15 of the outer ring 14, and the rolling element 17 is subjected to quenching with the usage of steel including from 0.5-1.5 wt% or more of Si, and thereafter, tempering at high temperatures at 200-300°C.
