PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a detection system for explosive substances, banned drugs and the like, which operates with less false reports at a high speed, by using a high-speed screening mode and a high-selective detail checking mode at the same time. SOLUTION: In a detection method using a mass spectrometer, the screening is carried out at a high speed by using a step (201) of acquiring a mass spectrum and a step (202) of determining whether or not an intrinsic m/z ion exists, and then an analysis condition is read from a database in accordance with a determination result of the determining step (202), and changing to a step (203) of conducting a tandem mass spectrometry is carried out in order to check details. Then, a step (204) of determining whether or not the intrinsic m/z ion exists, is carried out based on a result obtained by the tandem mass spectrometry. COPYRIGHT: (C)2007,JPO&INPIT
