PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a displacement correction method, correcting the displacement of a spindle simply and precisely. SOLUTION: In a numerically controlled machine tool, a predetermined tool is attached and detached through a tool holder provided at the tip of the spindle. (1) Prior to the actual machine tool operation, the operation elapsed time (t) and the displacement amounts G1 and G2 of the tip of the tool when the spindle is rotated and stopped at the maximum rotational frequency N are measured only once, (2) the displacement amounts G1 and G2 are obtained by summing the displacement amounts F1 and F2 due to heat generation and outgoing radiation of the spindle and the displacement amounts E1 and E2 due to retraction of the tool holder based upon the measured values, (3) at the actual rotation start of the machine tool operation, concerning the rotational frequency (n), the displacement amount G1 is multiplied by a suitable correction factor h to calculate the displacement h×G1, the amount of canceling the displacement is taken as the rotation correction amount to correct the position command value of the tip of the tool, and (4)at the stop of rotation of the machine tool operation, concerning the rotational frequency (n) of the spindle, the displacement G2 is multiplied by the correction factor (h) to calculate the displacement h×G2, and the amount of canceling the displacement is taken as the rotation stop correction amount to correct the position command value of the tip of the tool.
