PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the filtration efficiency and prolong the life of filter media by easily keeping the flow rate of backwash water to a prescribed flow rate. SOLUTION: The backwashing system performs backwashing of filter media in a filtering device to filter liquid in a water tank. The system is provided with a backwash water storage tank to store backwash water for the backwashing of the filter media, a pressure feeding means to perform pressure feeding of the backwash water from the backwash water storage tank to the filtering device, a by-pass pipe branched from a pipe connecting the pressure feeding means to the filtration device and returning the backwash water from the pressure feeding means to the backwash water storage tank, and a control valve to control the flow rate of the backwash water passing through the by-pass pipe.
