PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus which allows a wide and thin transfer material, and a narrow and thick transfer material to be fixed by heat so as not to bring about fixing defects and offset, without having to change the temperature setting of a heating member. SOLUTION: In an image forming apparatus 1, provided with a fixing part 7 which fixes a wide and thin transfer material P1 and a narrow and thick transfer material P2 between a heating member 26 and a pressure member 27 by heating, a guide member 28 for guiding transfer faces of transfer materials P1 and P2, after heat fixing, is provided below the fixing part 7; a transfer face contact part 29A of the guide member 28, corresponding to the narrow and thick transfer material P1, is brought closer to the heating member 26 than a transfer face contact part 29B corresponding to the wide and thin transfer material P2, so that the narrow and thick transfer material P1 is brought into contact with the heating member 26 for a long time (heating time is long) to eliminate fixing deficits and the wide; and a thin transfer material P2 is brought into contact with the heating member 26 for a short time (heating time is short) to prevent defects in separation from the heating member 26, the occurrence of offset, or the like.
