An LCD (liquid crystal display device) is provided to have a small response time of approximately 5 ms by controlling a voltage difference between a pitch of liquid crystals and an electric field generating electrode. A first electrode faces a second electrode. A liquid crystal layer(3) is interposed between the first electrode and the second electrode and is aligned in a twisted nematic mode. A pitch of the liquid crystal layer ranges from 10 m to 70 m, a cell interval that is a thickness of the liquid crystal layer ranges from 3.0 m to 4.5 m, and a voltage difference between the first electrode and the second electrode ranges from 0.2 V to 6.0 V.
