<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a printing device dispensing with input of troublesome printing control data to correspond to printing control conditions unique to each printing device and capable of securing a sufficient degree of freedom to vary printing conditions without excessive enlargement of printing control data to be prepared on the host computer side. <P>SOLUTION: The printing device 2 receives primary printing control data 48 through a communication line 5 and a receiving interface 28 (a primary printing control data receiving means). The received primary printing control data 48 is converted into secondary control data 50 unique to the printing device 2, by a filter processing program 44 in an ROM 22 achieving the function of a printing control data converting means.
