BACKLIGHT UNIT, AND LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY HAVING THE BACKLIGHT UNIT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight unit or the like in which suppression of assembling man-hours of a bending type fluorescent lamp is possible although the bending type fluorescent lamps are connected in parallel.

SOLUTION: This is the backlight unit 10 in which fluorescent lamps 14 in which a first outer electrode 36 which is a first metal conductor is formed at the end part of outer periphery of a first linear part 44 of the U-shaped bending type glass bulb 34, and a second outer electrode 38 which is a second metal conductor is formed at the outer periphery of the end part of a second linear part 46 are arranged in a plural number. This is a first conductor and a second conductor in which a first connector 56 which is installed corresponding to the respective fluorescent lamps 14 and to which the first outer electrode 36 is fitted and fixed, and a second connector 58 to which the second outer electrode 38 is fitted and fixed are arranged in upper and lower two rows, and this is provided with a first plate 57 in order to electrically connect first conductive members 56 mutually, and with a second plate 60 in order to electrically connect the second connectors 58 mutually.
