PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electronic device, with which operation for inputting authentication information is facilitated and the confidentiality of the authentication information is improved. SOLUTION: The electronic device has a display part (105) for sequentially displaying character information constituting the authentication information; a character defining part (102) for defining character information constituting the authentication information from the character information displayed sequentially on the display part (105); a mask character conversion part (103) for converting the character information, defined by the character defining part (102) into special character information different from the character information, to display the special character information again on the display part (105); and a character display speed adjustment part (106) for adjusting display speed for the character information to be displayed sequentially on the display part (105). The character display speed adjustment part (106) has an acceleration part (107) for accelerating the display speed for the character information, and a deceleration part (108) for decelerating the display speed for the character information.
