PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a coated optical fiber which can be more easily exposed by removing the outermost coating than in the conventional technique, and to provide a manufacturing method of the coated optical fiber. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of coated optical fiber comprises the following processes. (1); a reactive substance is brought into contact with the coated optical fiber made by applying a resin layer on a glass fiber from the outer part of the resin layer, and carbon atoms having a double bond included in the surface of the resin layer are reacted with the reactive substance or a part thereof.
