PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a conductive member capable of maintaining a stable gap with a latent image carrier with high precision. SOLUTION: The conductive member 10, which has a conductive support 1, an electric resistance adjusting layer 3 formed on the conductive support 1, and gap holding members 5 and 5 which are formed at both ends of the electric resistance adjusting layer 3 in contact with the image carrier so that the electric resistance adjusting layer 3 and image carrier maintain the constant gap, has chamfered shapes 53 at ends of outer peripheral surfaces 51 of the gap holding members 5 and 5 in contact with the image carrier.
