PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical scanner with which the vibration in a scanning optical system due to the vibration of a deflector is reduced while preventing complexity in a frame structure and to provide an image forming apparatus using the optical scanner. SOLUTION: In an inner casing 23, a polygon mirror unit 24 is held behind a beam emitting hole 66 and a scanning optical system including an fθlens 25, a turning back mirror 26, a plane tilt correction lens 27 and a flexural mirror 28 is held in front of the beam emitting hole 66, which is the opposite side interposing the beam emitting hole 66. Thus, in the inner case 23, the transmission of the vibration of the polygon mirror unit 24 is shielded by the beam emitting hole 66 and the transmission of the vibration to the front side part where the scanning optical system is held is prevented in the inner casing 23. Thus, the vibration of the scanning optical system due to the vibration of polygon mirror unit 24 is reduced. Further, the structure of the inner casing 23 is not complicated.
