PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lightweight and bendable substrate for a display which is resistent to breakage, and has adequate barrier properties against vapor, oxygen, etc., and to provide a display element using the substrate. SOLUTION: (1) The substrate for a display is a substrate which is produced by coating and sealing a glass material 3 with a first resin material 1 and a second resin material 2, and is formed of virtually the same resin in the outer surface.
