PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a rotary type expansion machine capable of varying suction volume and a fluid machine provided with the same. SOLUTION: An expansion mechanism 20 of the rotary type expansion machine 103 is provided with a cylinder 30, a first blocking member 21 and a second blocking member 2 blocking an upper end of the cylinder 30, a piston 31 arranged in the cylinder 30. An introduction passage 41 of refrigerant is formed in the first blocking member 21, a communication passage 42 is formed in an eccentric part 15a of a rotary shaft 15 and a supply passage 43 of refrigerant is formed in the second blocking member 22. When a flow-out port at a downstream end of the introduction passage 41, the communication passage 42 and a flow-in port at an upstream end of the supply passage 43 overlap in an up and down direction, refrigerant is sucked in an expansion chamber 32. The expansion mechanism 20 is provided with an electric motor 36 varying a relative position of the flow-out port and the flow-in port by rotating the first blocking member 21.
