The lighting unit has several lights (2) mounted on a supporting structure such as the upright posts (1) and cross bars. The posts and cross bars can be hollow profiles with the lights housed inside same. The light can be directed through guide flaps (5). The lights are mounted in a U-shaped holder (4) formed by the posts or cross bars or as part of a fitment which is to be connected to the posts whereby the side remote from the back of the profile forms the light outlet aperture. The lights can be formed by spotlights, strip lights or flat lights.
