A valve arrangement (10) having a valve body (12) with an inlet port (14) and an outlet port (16). A valve seat (18) is disposed in the valve body (12) and forms an aperture (20) positioned in the path of fluid flow between the inlet and outlet ports (14, 16). A shaft member (30) is disposed within the valve body (12) and has a flow control member connected to the end of the shaft (30). The flow control member (22) has a valve portion (24) for operably engaging the valve seat (18) and a valve extension portion (26) that extends from the valve portion (24) and circumscribes the shaft (30) in order to shield the shaft (30) from being exposed to contaminants. The valve portion (24) and valve extension portion (26) are integrally formed into a one-piece member thus eliminating an additional component in the valve design. |
