A mixture of corn and chaff is fed to the top side of a pre-cleaning strainer (PCS) (72). When emitted from the PCS top side, this mixture is fed to a top strainer (TS) (90) and then to a bottom strainer (BS) (92) as it passes through the PCS. A fan (62) impinges the PCS, the TS and BS with air currents. An independent claim is also included for a combine-harvester with a cleaning device.
