The roller shutter has a winding shaft (11) and roller panel (13) fixed by its free end to an extension rod (14) which contains a brake mechanism (16) formed by eccentric brakes (18) mounted at the ends of the rod and engaging on the guides (15). The free end of the roller panel as well as the actuating element (17) are fixed to the perimeter of the extension rod. The spring-tensioned actuating element designed as a swivel handle (23) acts on the brakes to lift the brake action. The guides are formed by rectangular guide rails (19) with open channels facing the side of the extension rod. The eccentric brakes can have rubber linings to increase friction.
