PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for filling ink in which leakage of ink is prevented by suppressing generation of bubbles in a print head. SOLUTION: During initial filling of ink, a supply tube side joint 100a is removed from a supply joint 90a while and a regression tube side joint 102a is removed from a regression joint 92a, and the supply tube side joint 100a is connected with the regression tube side joint 102a by a connection tube 110. An ink supply pump 59 is driven under that state to circulate ink from a subtank 52a via an ink supply tube 60a and an ink regression tube 62a. Subsequently, the ink supply pump 59 is stopped and one end joint 110a is removed from the supply tube side joint 100a while the other end joint 112a is removed from the regression tube side joint 102a.
