PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic thread cutting device of a sewing machine using a bobbin case. SOLUTION: The sewing machine having the bobbin case has a catching means having a catching member 4 reciprocating by a thread cutting command and normally catching an upper thread during the return movement of the catching member 4, a movable knife 5 reciprocating along with the catching means, a cutting means having a fixed knife 14 for cutting the thread guided by the catching means in cooperation with the movable knife 5, and a pushing means making the catching means capture an lower thread 29d only when cutting the lower thread 29d. The pushing means comes down with the return movement of the catching member 4 of the cutting means to push the lower thread 29d downward and the lower thread 29d is captured by the returning catching member 4 when cutting the lower thread 29d.
