PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve miniaturization and cost reduction of an imaging device equipped with the functions of detecting the distance to an imaging object, or its leaning, or its posture, while surely carrying out such detection irrespective of the distance from the imaging device to the imaging object. SOLUTION: This imaging device is structured so as be equipped with: an imaging camera 10 for imaging the imaging object; light projection parts 20a to 20d for projecting a spot light to the imaging object, the spot light paralleling or substantially paralleling the optical axis of the camera 10; and a detection part 30 for detecting the distance between the camera 10 and the imaging object based on the position of the spot light on the imaging object by the projection parts 20a to 20d in an image of the imaging object taken by the camera 10.
