PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a friction generation mechanism compact in size in a torque converter with a lockup device. SOLUTION: The fluid-type torque converter 1 with the lockup device comprises: a front cover 2; an impeller 9; a turbine 10; and the friction generation mechanism 40. The impeller 9 forms a fluid chamber together with the front cover 2. The turbine 10 is arranged in the fluid chamber so as to oppose the impeller 9, and comprises a turbine shell 14, a turbine blade 15 and a turbine hub 16. The lockup device 5 is a mechanism for mechanically connecting and disconnecting the front cover 2 and the turbine 10, and comprises an elastic connection mechanism that includes a driven blade 53 connected to the turbine hub 16. The friction generation mechanism 40 is arranged between the turbine hub 16 and the driven blade 53, functions as a mechanism for generating friction resistance at the operation of the lockup device, and comprises a friction face (44) and a minute clearance 46 that make the friction face not operate in the range of a minute twisted angle.
