PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically and periodically compress digital information according to user's setting to reduce the digital information quantity while the user can arbitrarily set a compression start date of digital information, and further a compression rate change interval or compression rate change stage of the digital information, and set the compression rate, the compression rate change interval and the compression rate change step for each content depending on the user's taste. SOLUTION: The digital information compression device comprises a digital information storage means storing digital information; a setting means for setting a compression start date of the digital information; and a digital information compression means compressing the digital information for reducing the information quantity of the digital information. At the compression start date set in the compression start date setting means, the digital information is compressed.
