PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact and simply structured mountless label printer without adversely influencing a thermal head of an activated part. SOLUTION: The thermal head 6a activates viscosity on a label sheet 3 immediately after it is printed and carried (without stopping the paper). After the printing is completed, the viscosity activation is stopped immediately before a part to be cut for cutting the sheet into a predetermined label length reaches a cutter 5. When the part to be cut reaches the cutter 5, the conveyance of the label sheet 3 is stopped. After the label sheet 3 is cut by the cutter 5 and the printed label is separated, the thermal head 6a resumes operation to further activate viscosity of the label (on a non-activated part) to issue the label.
