PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a medical image processing method for easily specifying a required region in volume data prepared from a large amount of source images photographed by photographing modality and suppressing the capacity of holding data further. SOLUTION: An image processor 1 acquires slice data (source images) from the photographing modality 3, prepares the volume data from two or more pieces of the acquired slice data and displays them on a display. When the required region in the volume data is specified by a user such as a doctor in charge, the image processor 1 recognizes the specified region, converts a density value in the slice data other than the ones in the region to a prescribed value, performs reversible data compression to converted images and preserves them in an image server 5 or a recording medium 7 or the like.
