A radio terminal, a method and a program for displaying character data are provided to download the minimum necessary character font data from a base station by searching the character font data at high speed, thereby significantly reducing time for communication with the base station in comparison with a case of downloading the character font data each time, and contributing to acceleration of display processing of the radio terminal and reducing power consumption. A radio terminal comprises the followings: a radio communication circuit for transceiving data with a base station; a display for displaying a message, received by the radio communication circuit, on the basis of a preset character code; a controller for controlling the radio communication circuit and the display; and a battery for supplying power to the controller, radio communication circuit and display. The controller comprises the followings: a character font data storage; a font data searching unit; a font data obtaining unit which requests character font data from the base station when there is no character font data, corresponding to an obtained character code, in the character font data storage, and downloads the character font data from the base station; and a display pattern transmitting unit. |
