A method and an apparatus for reproducing an audio file are provided to prevent a problem that the audio file is not normally reproduced, by preventing the execution of an operation by a user command irrespective of reproduction of the audio file while the audio file is reproduced and continuing reproduction of the audio file. A memory card(104) stores an audio file. A buffer(110) temporally stores the audio file. A decoder(108) receives the audio file through the buffer(110), decodes the received audio file, and recovers the audio file into audio data. A user interface(114) receives user command data. A control unit(100) provides the audio file recorded in the memory card(104) to the decoder(108) through the buffer(110) according to a reproduction command of the audio file through the user interface(114). If the user command data are received through the user interface(114) while the audio file is reproduced, the control unit(100) checks whether the user command data are a predetermined command for reproducing the audio file. If the user command data are not the predetermined command, the control unit(100) continuously performs the reproduction of the audio file.
