DRIVE CONNECTION MECHANISM AND IMAGE FORMING APPARATUS HAVING THE MECHANISM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a drive connection mechanism with which a drive section and a follower section can be connected without causing backlash and rotation of the drive section can be steadily transmitted to the follower section.

SOLUTION: The drive connection mechanism includes: a recessed coupling gear 201 fixed to a drum drive shaft 41 and having a recessed tapering part 202 in the axial direction of the drum drive shaft 41; a sliding part 511 compressed around the drum drive shaft 41 and fixed to the vicinity of the drive shaft 41 with a prescribed amount of space left from the recessed coupling gear 201; a projecting coupling gear 512 freely slidably attached to the sliding part 511 and including a plurality of separate members 512x, 512y and 512z having a tapering part 512b slid against the tapering part 202 of the recessed coupling gear 201; and a compression spring 511 pressing the projecting coupling gear 512 to the recessed coupling gear 201.
