A washing machine is provided to sufficiently obtain water flowing in a drain filter, and to prevent foreign materials from flowing in an impeller when the foreign materials block a water passage by installing an auxiliary water passage besides an inlet. A washing machine comprises: a water tank containing water; a drain casing(20) connected to the water tank to discharge water; and a drain filter(30) contained in the drain casing. The drain filter is composed of: a filtering plate(33) formed like a circular plate, and mounted with an inlet(33a) at the center; a stopper unit formed like a circular plate, and installed to contain the drain filter in the drain casing; and a connection unit(32) connecting the filtering plate and the stopper unit. A first auxiliary water passage(33b) or a second auxiliary water passage consisting of at least more than one through-hole is mounted on the filtering plate. The first auxiliary water passage is symmetrically installed each other at the side surface of the inlet to penetrate the filtering plate.
