<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrode catalyst for a direct liquid fuel supply type fuel cell which can offer the fuel cell with high output and long lifetime by increasing the acid resistance of the electrode catalyst using a perovskite compound as a carrier. <P>SOLUTION: This methanol oxidation catalyst is an electrode catalyst for a direct liquid fuel supply fuel cell, including metallic particles having the liquid fuel oxidation catalyst capability and the oxygen deficient form perovskite oxide represented as ABO<SB>3-δ</SB>, where δ indicates deficient amount of oxygen in the range of 0.01≤δ≤1.0.
