PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shield machine which can improve the support strength of a cutter section. SOLUTION: The shield machine 1 is formed of: the cutter section 8 having a central cutter 21 and a plurality of peripheral cutters 22; a partition wall 15 arranged behind the cutter section 8; rotating members 35 arranged on the partition wall 15, for rotating the cutter section 8; link members 51 each arranged between the rotating member 35 and the peripheral cutter 22; and first driving means 38, 39 for activating the link members 51 and switching the peripheral cutters 22 into a flush state in which the peripheral cutters 22 are flush with the central cutter 21 and a bent state in which the former are bent with respect to the latter. Herein the rotating members 35 have engaging members 61, and the cutter section 8 has engaged members 62 engageable with the engaging members 61, respectively.
