PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a manufacturing method of an optical device in which a viscous moisture absorbing member having a desired shape and thickness can be installed appropriately in a sealing space, and in which variations in a surface area of the viscous moisture absorbing member exposed in the sealing space can be reduced. SOLUTION: The manufacturing method of an organic EL display device is the manufacturing method having a substrate, a counter substrate, and an organic EL element formed in the sealing space between the both substrates. A metal mask 300 having an aperture 300a in a prescribed region is arranged on the counter substrate 106, the viscous moisture absorbing member 107 is applied in the aperture 300a, an applied viscous moisture absorbing member 107 is pressed, and widened inside that wall, the metal mask 300 is taken off from the counter substrate 106, and both substrates are adhered by an adhesive so that the viscous moisture absorbing member 107 is arranged in the sealing space.
