PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a prism sheet capable of improving light condensing efficiency, frontal luminance and viewing angle characteristics, to provide a backlight unit that uses the prism sheet, and to provide a liquid crystal display device having the backlight unit. SOLUTION: The prism sheet comprises a light-condensing film; and a plurality of prism peaks, each having triangular cross section of an inclined surface which is inclined from a top surface of the light-condensing film at an angle of 20°to 40°. The backlight unit comprises at least one lamp for generating light; a light guide plate for vertically converting an advancing direction of light made incident from the lamp via an incident surface formed on a side surface; a prism sheet which is disposed on the light guide plate and condenses light made incident through the plurality of prism peaks with each prism peak having an inclined surface which is inclined at an angle of 20°to 40°; and a reflection-type polarizer which is disposed on the prism sheet and causes either S-polarization or P-polarization of light transmitted by the prism sheet to increase.
