PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a union cloth composed of a polytrimethylene terephthalate ultrafine fiber and a cotton or linen fiber, excellent in an soft feeling, color developing properties, and mechanical characteristics, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: This union cloth is composed so that one of the warp and the weft comprises a multifilament consisting of polytrimethylene terephthalate and having a single fiber fineness of 0.01-0.5 dtex and the other comprises the cotton or linen fiber. The union cloth is obtained by using such a sea-island type conjugated fiber that the sea component polymer of the sea-island type conjugated fiber comprises polylactic acid and the island component polymer thereof comprises the polytrimethylene terephthalate, a conjugation ratio of the sea component to the island component is 10/90 to 50/50, and the single fiber fineness of the island component obtained by dissolution treatment is 0.01-0.5 dtex as the one of the warp and the weft, using the cotton or linen fiber as the other, weaving them into the cloth, subjecting the cloth to mercerization, and further subjecting to alkaline dissolution treatment, so as to dissolve the polylactic acid away.
