PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vacuum cleaner having a suction port body capable of highly efficiently cleaning on both of a floor surface and a carpet surface, having a high dust removing performance and facilitating the operation on the carpet. SOLUTION: The suction port body 1 of the vacuum cleaner is provided with a plate receiver 12 being a front wall, having an opening part in the lower part in the front side of a suction port body 2 having a suction port 5 in the bottom face, and a plate 6 approximately perpendicularly movable to a cleaning object surface by the front side of the suction port body 2 abutting on the cleaning object surface or dust and opening/closing the opening part by the movement; and is formed with an air inflow opening part 21 for passing the air therein between the back face of the plate 6 and the plate receiver 12 by inclining the lower end of the plate 6 to a position rearward the upper end part by the obliquely upward movement of the plate 6.
