<p>An elevator car and a counterbalance weight are suspended in a hoistway by main ropes. A drive device for moving up and down the elevator car and the counterbalance weight has a drive sheave over which the main ropes are passed. The surfaces of the main ropes are formed of resin. The main rope are also passed over a driven sheave rotated by movement of the main ropes. Grooves for installing the main ropes are formed in the outer periphery of the driven sheave. A friction coefficient between the inner surfaces of the grooves and the main ropes is set less than that between iron and iron.</p> |
