This invention provides an ink cartridge comprising an ink jet head and a plurality of liquid chambers for storing respective inks different from each other, wherein the minimum value A1 (g/ml) of the density of inks stored in the plurality of liquid chambers and the maximum value B1 (g/ml) of the density of the inks, stored in the plurality of liquid chambers, after evaporating 10% by mass of the inks satisfy (B1 - A1)/A1 = 0.100. Even when the ink cartridge is placed in such a state that the stored inks are likely to be evaporated, that is, the ink cartridge is stored in physical distribution for a long period of time or held for a long period of time in such a state that the cartridge is loaded in a recording device, stable images, which undergo no significant change in color balance as compared with the initial state can be formed.
