An inexpensive copper alloy which has necessary and sufficient conductivity and strength, and can cope with miniaturization of components for electronic machinery and tools, and a manufacturing method thereof are provided. A copper alloy for electric and electronic machinery and tools contains 2 to 12 mass% of Zn and 0.1 to 1.0 mass% of Sn, a relation between mass% concentration of Sn([%Sn]) and mass% concentration of Zn([%Zn]) being adjusted in a range of the expression, 0.5<=[%Sn]+0.16[%Zn]<=2.0, and the balance of Cu and other unavoidable impurities, wherein the unavoidable impurities contain 30 mass ppm or less of S and 50 mass ppm or less of O, and the copper alloy has 35% IACS(International Annealed Copper Standard) or more of conductivity and 410 MPa or more of tensile strength, and can be subjected to 180 degree close adhesion bending process of bad way and good way. |
