A method for transceiving a short message by using an ARS is provided to enable an SMSC to notify only whether the short message has arrived or not without immediately transmitting the short message to a subscriber, and transmit the short message only when a password by ARS connection of the subscriber is consistent and when location information at an ARS connection time is consistent, thereby preventing an illegally-copied terminal from illegally receiving the short message. A method for transceiving a short message by using an ARS(Automatic Response System) comprises the following steps. An SMSC(Short Message Service Center) inquires of an HLR(Home Location Register) whether a portable terminal of a receiving party is subscribed for an SMS(Short Message Service) using the ARS, and then transmits an arrive notification message, notifying that the short message has arrived at the SMSC, to the receiving-side portable terminal. And then the SMSC authenticates whether the portable terminal portable terminal is subscribed or not by using a password of the SMS using the ARS, and compares the current location information of the portable terminal with location information at an ARS connection time in order to confirm whether the two information are consistent or not. |
