An ink level detecting apparatus of an ink-jet printer is provided to recognize an amount of ink consumption in real-time and predict a depletion time in advance. In an ink level detecting apparatus of an ink-jet printer, a contraction type ink pack(20) is contained inside of an ink tank(30) to horizontally lower an upper face thereof as a remaining ink in the ink tank is decreased. A light source(10) is installed on a front surface of the contraction type ink pack to irradiate light toward one side. And, a light receiving sensor(40) is installed on one side wall of the ink tank to sense an intensity of light irradiated from the source.
