<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus capable of accurately controlling an amount of colorless transparent toner to be applied and always minimizing toner consumption. <P>SOLUTION: The reflectivity of the colorless transparent toner in relation to the detecting light of an optical density sensor is made almost equal to the reflectivity of color toner or black toner.
