PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus designed such that images are regularly formed by re-using recovered toner, however, re-use of recovered toner can be discontinued with a simple configuration in order to form a high quality image despite a large amount of paper power or the like produced by the transfer body to be used, and less toner consumption and low costs are also achieved. SOLUTION: The image forming apparatus includes: a transfer means 3 by which a toner image formed by a developing means 2 is transferred to a transfer body (P); a cleaning means 4 for recovering residual toner remaining on an image carrier 1 or the transfer means 3 after the transfer by the transfer means 3; a recovered-toner conveyance means 5 for conveying the recovered toner (T) in the direction of the sides of the developing means 2; and a re-use toner conveyance path switching means 8 by which a reuse-toner conveyance path 6, along which the recovered toner (T) conveyed by the recovered-toner conveyance means 5 is conveyed as re-use toner (t), is switched to a discarded-toner conveyance path 7, along which the recovered toner (T) is conveyed as discarded toner (tt).
